Tip to remember Cinque Terre

I didn’t want to forget our cool trick we figured out during our stay at Cinque Terre…you know, for next time we come back 😉

The main coastal trails that connect the 5 cities have Trekking Cards which have to be purchased before hiking. 8€ per adult. To skip this fee, go early (before 9) or go late (after 7pm) when the ticket booths at the trailheads are unmanned and you can skip this fee. We started about 8:45am at the trailhead/ticketbooth in Vernazza and hiked 1.5 hours to Conigula. If you turn around on the trail before the Conigula ticketbooth then you can avoid the charge! We made the mistake of actually going into town in Conigula and then had to pay the fee at the Conigula trailhead/ticketbooth on the way back to Vernazza. We’ll be pro next time!
