Cities on Cliffs

This weekend we left for the Italian countryside. On our way, we stopped at a medieval town. Just outside was a humongous statue of a guy stuck in the ground, except it was really just a pair of arms and legs with a head sticking out of the ground. We had fun climbing on top of the unfortunate guy’s knee and sliding back down again while we were there. Then we drove to Civita di Bagnoregio, another old town built by the Etruscans which is situated on a cliff. Parts of the city have fallen off due to landslides, yet some people still live there, hopefully not too close to the edge. Inside, we paid and additional three euro to go into a medieval house that still had a bunch of old oil presses, wine barrels, and pretty much everything your typical medieval house should have still in it, including a small cave. My dad discovered that the cave had good acoustics, so while the rest of us looked around, Dad stayed in the cave singing. When he finally came out, both us, and the other people who had come to visit were laughing our heads off.
