Storm

We were walking home, but we saw a cloud, and we thought it might rain.  Instead of raining, it poured.  It started hailing and then it started thundering.  Just when we thought anything could not get worse, it did. The weather went to lightning.  We all screamed.  Then we got to a long flight of stairs.  When we finally got to our hotel, we changed in our warm dry pajamas. It returned to light rain but without thunder and lightning.  Why did it end then, when we were home and dry, instead of when we were outside?!
