Nutella

Everywhere we go I keep seeing Nutella flavoring. And in the back of my mind I keep thinking: These Italians have really embraced this Australian product because for what ever reason I keep thinking Australia invented Nutella.

Every gelato place has a Nutella flavor. Italians love their Nutella. So I finally looked into it.

Turned out it was invented by the Italians during World War II. Chocolate was in short supply so some clever man named Ferraro tried to stretch his chocolate by adding hazelnuts. At first he made Nutella bricks but then made it into the yummy goop it is today and it now sells all over the world. Now I know and I won’t be crediting the Australians for anything ever again except for maybe veggiemite but I haven’t confirmed that either.
