As their food supply dwindled, a woman who&#8217;s last name was Carcass threw a whole pig over the city walls where it landed by some soldiers. The soldiers, who were also running out of food, took this as a sign that the people they were attacking still had all kinds of food, and would not surrender for a long time. The soldiers packed up and left the city, and the woman who threw out the pig was the first to see them leave. Upon seeing this, she signaled to the rest of the citizens that they were no longer under attack. In honor of her, they named the place Carcassonne. Anyway, it&#8217;s really cool, and would be an awesome place to play hide and seek with a large group, though you might need a lot of time to find everyone.
